Thayne, Wyoming, in the heart of Star Valley, is surrounded by three National Forests, is just a short drive from a National Park and is near world-class resorts. If you are looking for a relaxing environment near some of the world's best natural attractions, Thayne is the place for you.

Our valley is fed by seven mountain lakes, three major rivers and numerous pure water springs, creeks, and streams flowing into a twenty-mile long lake. As one fellow says, "When you take a drink of water in this valley, you're the first one to use it."

Thayne is one of the best places in the Northwest for family reunions, and it is filled with plenty of options for your next outdoor adventure.

The lakes, rivers, and streams provide premier fishing for Cutthroat trout, German Browns, Brookies, Rainbows, Mackinaw and the unappreciated Mt. White Fish. This fabulous water resource also provides access to boating, water skiing, jet skiing, white water rafting, kayaking, sailboarding and more.

The forests surrounding the valley are filled with big game, including:

  • Elk

In addition to the natural wonders of the area, there are several other attractions nearby, including golf courses, a tennis court, and public town parks and campgrounds.

Winter sports are also very popular in the area. Some of the top activities include downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Additionally, Thayne is the home of cutter racing, a world-class winter sport.

Thayne is incredibly easy to access thanks to municipal airports in both Afton and Alpine with 4,680 and 5,000-foot asphalt runways respectively that are perfect for small private planes. Additionally, there are commercial airports in Jackson, Idaho Falls and Salt Lake City.
