Thayne's Kick Off to America's 250th Birthday
On September 11, 2025, the Town of Thayne held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of an impressive mural on the Community Center. Mayor Devin Simpson thanked the many men and women who helped along the way to make the mural possible. He first expressed his gratitude to Governor Mark Gordon for his commitment to helping communities celebrate America’s 250th birthday. He also thanked the Wyoming Semi quincentennial Planning Task Force for approving the project. Additionally, many thanks were given to the committee that helped select the artists for this mural: Kevin Voyles, Doug Monson, Mikan Kinder, and Joe Heward, and to the Star Valley Arts Council, principally Lxi Weber, who helped tremendously on the project.
The Mayor also expressed gratitude to the artists Trinity Roberson, Bridger Roberson, and the rest of the Roberson family for their help. Their work beautifully captured the spirit of Thayne, Wyoming, and the United States of America.
In the mural, you can see the past of Thayne as well as the future. The cutter racing, which got its origins here in the Town, running down Main Street. The cheese factory and the cattle, which, for a very long time, Thayne was known for. Thhe flags of this great state and country, which symbolize the freedoms that we have come to enjoy.
The element that should stand out as the community carries its heritage forward is the heart. This heart has become the symbol of Thayne. The town strives to be the heart of Star Valley, but more importantly, to be a community defined by love—a place where people care for their neighbors and honor their faith in God.
